Thursday 10th September 1914

Today the Regiment proceeded to new country across the Manawatu River and carried out a scheme Regiment in the attack. We marched out via the Fitzherbert Bridge but coming back the Regiment took a short cut the men fording the River in rear of the Camp. Everyone got safely over but more or less wet as the water was nearly waist high. The experience was novel but valuable and shows the excellent spirit of the men.
