Today the Regiment proceeded to new country across the Manawatu River and carried out a scheme Regiment in the attack. The weather still keeps gloriously fine. Training was under Company arrangements and the Company did an outpost scheme on ground adjoining the camp. In the afternoon company drill was carried out.

An early breakfast at our bivouac, a short morning parade and we returned to camp early in the afternoon. With the exception of one or two footsore men the Regiment stood the test very well.

Today we had our first introduction to a real bivouac. The Regiment paraded at 8 a.m. with transport and full mobilization equipment including 24 hours rations for the purpose of a route march to Highden. It was again a glorious sunny day. The weather still keeps magnificently fine and the Regiment at 9.15 a.m. marched out for inspection and then proceeded through Palmerston North along Rangitikei Line for a route march. Still at Awapuni and no definite word of moving. Everyone anxious to move but still desirous of getting in as much training as possible. The day was occupied with Regimental training.
