In the morning we had a route march of all the troops off the ships that came in. It was frightfully hot although one enjoyed immensely being off the ship and stretching ones legs. The country round Hobart is very picturesque and pretty and the inhabitants were more than hospitable. They treated the men to drinks and food wherever we happened to stop. We spent the night at the wharf but no leave was granted. Several men however broke ship but were dealt with severely.
