A very hot day. Sports in afternoon. Company won tug of war. Relay race. and most other events. A good afternoon’s sports. NCO’s concert in the evening.

Left Aden about 8 a.m. A calm day. Coast visible on all sides. An interesting days sail. It became known here that orders were awaiting us at Suez and our ship and the Orvieto pushed on ahead of the rest of the convoy.
Arrived at Aden am. Everyone interested to see the famous garrison station. Barrenness very marked. No one allowed ashore. We remained all day.

Pvt Lewis buried at sea at 9.30. The Coy supplied the firing party. Rest of day washing and cleaning. A concert was held at night in the well deck. Pvt Pike won the prize for the best item. Pat Jackson “taking the cake”. Hqrs. Officers attended in good numbers and the concert was very enjoyable.
