Dear Colonel,
I am posting you today the first batch of the Company Diary. There is nothing that seems to me very interesting as so many days are alike but it may interest you people in New Zealand. I will post you installments from time to time. Our own private diaries will contain many interesting days but they are not for publication. Your last interesting letter arrived safely and was passed round. Please write a few more. We are all keen to know anything that is going on in Wanganui. I have your cap safely. I think it is a mascot. I tried to find you the night we were supposed to sail but couldn’t get round all the pubs. Had to give up the hunt about The Royal Oak after starting from “the Cecil”.
Remembrances to Wanganui officers and kindest regards to Mrs Hughes.
Yours sincerely
W.H. Cunningham
