Routine Work.

The strength of the Company to date is 5 officers and 109 men (Lt Gilbert & Lt Sutherland). The day was spent in Routine work getting the men trained together.
[8th March 1916]
The Reinforcements and details were sorted out into their Territorial Districts & posted to their Companies accordingly.
[7th March 1916]
At 8. a.m. orders were received to strike Camp and move 3 miles further E. along the new road. Arrived at destination at 10.30 a.m. & pitched camp again, still on empty stomachs. All hands well. During the evening the bulk of the 8th & whole of 9th Reinforcements arrived in Camp, also [...]
[6th March 1916]
At 3 p.m. orders were received to move to Reserve Camp East of the Canal. We moved off at 3.45 p.m. and arrived at destination at 6.30 p.m. & pitched Camp for the night on empty stomachs.
[5th March 1916]
At Moascar Camp preparing Lines for the reception of the new Coy. Weather good and all hands looking forward to getting our shoulders back for the work in front of us.
[4th March 1916 - Leap Year adjustment]
The Diary recommences as the Battalion prepares to leave Egypt. There are two diaries covering the same dates, one of them written by Lieutenant Hugh McKinnon. Most of the entries are nearly identical.
At 9 a.m. on 3rd March the following officers & N.C.O.’s of W.W.C. Coy were detached from the old Coy. [...]
There is a gap in the Company Diary from 1st January 1916 to 2nd March 1916.
From the Regimental Diary at 31st December 1915:
“To March 6th. Batn in Bivouac. Battalion remained in Camp training.”
The Diary recommences on Thursday 3rd March 1916.
