The Road to Chunuk Bair

Entrained at 2 a.m. at Palais Kubbeh. Going by train to Alexandria and thence on transport Achaia which went into Stream at 4 p.m.

Arrived at Alexandria and berthed about 7a.m. Everyone excited at the prospect of early disembarkation. Other units on ship disembark. Cargo discharging started. Our Coy supply all fatigues. Remained at Port Said till 5p.m. Officers allowed ashore. A dirty town but interesting. Sailed at 5p.m. for Alexandria. Everyone packing up.

A much cooler day. Wind cold. Everybody putting on winter clothes. Arrived Suez at 5 p.m. Received our orders to disembark at Alexandria. Started up the Canal at 7 p.m. A glorious sunset.
