Arrived at Alexandria and berthed about 7a.m. Everyone excited at the prospect of early disembarkation. Other units on ship disembark. Cargo discharging started. Our Coy supply all fatigues. Alexandria a great port but appliances not equal to Wellington. Company worked very hard. No leave. Men rather grumble but Orvieto beer has a quieting effect. Great confusion as to entraining for Cairo. We get ready to move at a moments notice. Baggage disembarked but has to be taken on board again at night to allow men their blankets.
